Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy: soft tissue manipulation that includes holding, causing movement, and/or applying pressure to the body. Massage therapy is used to relieve a variety of problems including arthritis, sports injuries, myofascial pain, headache and stress, circulatory problems, gastrointestinal disorders, and chronic and acute pain. Your first visit with a massage therapist might involve a brief history and discussion of your medical problems and health goals. There are a variety of massage techniques, which include:
Deep Tissue massage which relieves chronic patterns of tension
Myofascial Release which releases muscular tension in the fascia
Reflexology focuses on areas of the body, particularly hands and feet, thought to be linked to certain organs, nerves, and glands
Shiatsu and Acupressure treat points along acupuncture "meridians" to relieve pain.
Swedish massage relieves tension and improves circulation
Trigger Point Therapy (also called Myotherapy or Neuromuscular therapy) focuses on "trigger points" to help relieve cycles of chronic pain.
Sports massage is useful before and after competitive events.
Our massage therapists have been to an approved school in which they have successfully completed a minimum number of classroom hours with supervised instruction, and must pass a written and a practical examination. All of our massage therapists have met all of the licensing and certification requirements for the state of New Mexico.
